…also, now that I think of it: What does he mean, been waiting for him?! It sounds dramatic and cool, but how did he know our protagonist would pay him a visit? I’m eager to read the next page

No special knowledge, merely equal parts good guess and hope.
As for the mind-sets that led each to say what they did, and not expect the other to say what he did, stay tuned.
